Free quote template for plumbers

Updated October 2026. General information, not tax or legal advice.

Plumbing quotes go wrong when the unit price is clear and the extras are not. Disposal, a tempering valve, and access through a tight cupboard are the lines people argue about.

This sample is a like-for-like electric storage hot-water replacement. Use it as the pattern for blocked drains, mixers and rough-ins. Change the lines. Do not send the example business name.

Notes

Price is for a straight swap in the same position, with the existing electrical connection suitable. A new circuit, relocating the unit, or a gas conversion is quoted separately. Bathroom outlets are set through the tempering valve.

Terms

This quote is valid for the period shown. Prices are in Australian dollars and, where GST is applied, unit prices exclude GST. Work starts after written acceptance. Variations to the scope are quoted separately.

Lines that stop the call-back

  • The fixture or unit, with the size. 250L is not 125L, and electric is not heat pump.
  • Tempering. Bathroom outlets are generally limited to 50°C. Say whether the valve is in the price.
  • Labour hours, and what “install” includes: isolation, reconnect, fill and test.
  • Disposal of the old unit, or say the client keeps it.
  • Access: roof space, cupboard, or a unit on a slab. If you have not seen it, say the price assumes a clear swap.

Make it a quote, not a guess

If you have not been to the house, call it an estimate or write the assumptions in the notes. Once you have seen the job and the client accepts the figure for that scope, treat variations as new lines, not a quiet extra on the invoice.
